History

1969
A predecessor of JSCPT, “Rinsho Yakurigaku Kenkyukai (Clinical Pharmacology Research Committee) ” was established. The first president was Dr. Shigeichi Sunahara.
The committee insisted that pharmacological knowledge based on animal experiments should be applied to clinical setting after in-vivo trial, aimed evidence-based medication, and recognized importance of new drugs’ clinical evaluation.

1970
A society magazine “Rinsho Yakuri (Clinical Pharmacology)” was published. Annual meeting has begun. The number of the committee members in 1971 is 253.

1980
JSCPT, which replaced “Rinsho Yakurigaku Kenkyukai (Clinical Pharmacology Research Committee) “, was established. The first president was Prof. Eiichi Kimura. The number of the society members is 688.

2001
JSCPT joined Japan Medical Association.

2002
JSCPT joined Japanese Committee of Medical Specialty Board, which is presently Japanese Medical Specialty Board.

Activities

1970
The first official annual meeting was held.

From 1974 to 2004
Annual Clinical Pharmacology Symposium was held by JSCPT, together with the Pharmacology Research Committee of the Science Council of Japan.

1975
The overseas study program for JSCPT members was introduced. This program is funded by Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA), and has been served for creating clinical pharmacology experts.

1990
“Japan Research Foundation for Clinical Pharmacology Award” was established to promote clinical pharmacology research.
This award was funded by the Japan Research Foundation for Clinical Pharmacology. Promotion Award and Best Paper Award are given to researchers annually.

1991
Board Certified Clinical Physician Program was established.

1992
The 5th World Conference on Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics was held in Yokohama. 2,300 scholars, representing 59 countries participated in the congress.

1995
Board Certified Clinical Pharmacist Program was established.

1995
Annual clinical pharmacology lecture courses have begun.

1996
“Rinsho Yakurigaku (Clinical Pharmacology) 1st Ed. ” was published by Igaku-shoin Ltd.

1999
“Rinsho Yakurigaku Yogoshu (Terminology of clinical pharmacology) 1st Ed.” was published By Life Science Publishing Co., Ltd.

2002
“CRC Textbook 1st Ed.” was published by Igaku-shoin Ltd.
CRC certification program was established.
November: Japan-China Joint Meeting of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology 2002 was held.

2003
“Rinsho Yakurigaku (Clinical Pharmacology) 2nd Ed. ” was published by Igaku-shoin Ltd.

2004
September: The second Japan-China Joint Meeting of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology was held.

2005
December: The first Joint Symposium of JSCPT / Korean Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (KSCPT) was held in Beppu.

2006
November: The second Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Jeju Island, South Korea.

2007
June : “CRC Textbook 2rd Ed. ” was published by Igaku-shoin Ltd.
August : The third Japan-China Joint Meeting of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology was held in Dalian, China.
November : The third Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Utsunomiya.

2008
January : JSCPT was incorporated as a middle-natured corporation with the limited liability.
November : The fourth Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Seoul, South Korea.
December : JSCPT became a general incorporated association, with the enforcement of Act on General Incorporated Associations and General Incorporated Foundations.

2009
March : The fourth Japan-China Joint Meeting of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology was held in Yokohama.
May :” Rinsho Yakurigaku Yogoshu (Terminology of clinical pharmacology) 2nd Ed.” was published By Life Science Publishing Co., Ltd.
December : The fifth Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Yokohama.

2010
November : The sixth Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Pusan, South Korea.

2011
August : The fifth China-Japan Joint Meeting of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology was held in Urumqi, China.
November : “Rinsho Yakurigaku (Clinical Pharmacology) 3rd Ed. ” was published by Igaku-shoin Ltd.
December : JSCPT-KSCPT-ASCPT Joint Conference 2011 was held in Hamamatsu.

2012
November : The eighth Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Jeju Island, South Korea.

2013
September : “Textbook for CRC 3^rd Ed. ” was published by Igaku-shoin Ltd.
December : The ninth Joint Symposium of JSCPT / KSCPT was held in Tokyo.
